At its 40th Annual Collector Car Auction, Barrett-Jackson will be the First to Auction an Antique Carousel on Live Prime-Time TV – Tune In Barrett-Jackson on NATGEO, Saturday Eve., Jan. 18

Scottsdale, AZ – This year, at its 40th Annual Collector Car Auction in January, Barrett-Jackson will include a historic 1922 Spillman Engineering Carousel among its 1,000 plus fine, classic automobiles.

Barrett-Jackson-Scottsdale-GalaEntering its 40th year, the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction has grown to eight days, with six days of auction and approximately 1,000+ vehicles as well as nightlife, fashion shows and more. For the past five years, Barrett-Jackson drew over 200,000 spectators to WestWorld, where the event has been held since 1989. The Speed Channel, now FOX Sports 1, has been providing TV coverage of the Barrett-Jackson auction since 1993. At the 2013 Scottsdale auction last year, 40 hours of bidding was aired live on TV. That air time should be matched or surpassed this year. See TV times and channel listings here.

And, this year, an antique carousel will be offered (in tact), in real-time, live, on National TV, for the first time ever. Twenty years ago, the word “auction” did not bode well for a historic, antique carousel. But times have changed. Most recently, two carousels have appeared at the auctions of major collections, predominantly antique and classic car collections. Like trains and carousels for over a century, classic cars and antique carousels just seem to make a perfect fit. Both of the carousels at the previous auctions sold in the million dollar range.

Whether you head to Scottsdale in January, or watch on TV, you won’t want to miss this great event. The 1922 Spillman carousel and the “Gypsy Queen” organ are slated to be auctioned live on air, in prime-time, toward the end of the Saturday session, which will be televised live on the “National Geographic Channel”. Saturday’s television coverage runs from 1 pm until 8 pm EST.

The full Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction 2014 catalog and schedule is now online.

The Auction-event takes place January 12-19, 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ. Dan will be there with the carousel all week, so if you can make a visit, stop by. If not, be sure to tune in to the NATGEO Channel Saturday afternoon to be sure not to miss this historic event. This will be a lot of fun, and great national exposure for historic carousels and band organs alike.
